The Gaming Giant Brings Onboard Popular Battle Royale Producer to Boost Challenged Hero Shooter Project Ethos

2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently working on the upcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.

Management Change Comes After Lukewarm Response

The new appointee assumes the leadership position at 31st Union following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's underwhelming unveiling last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure notified team members about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the need for a more defined game identity.

Ismailer stated that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a refreshed focus, aiming to satisfy community desires.

Trend of Strategic Recruitment

This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Here is the complete content from the president's announcement:

Team—

I understand you all just completed your meeting - I hope you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a note, I expressed the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and innovative creators we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re eager for that relationship to continue.”

Through your commitment and versatility, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.

The player input from last fall’s the game playtest was enlightening. It affirmed the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had refinements needed. It uncovered the need for a more distinct brand.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You embraced the input to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed direction - one that’s ready to deliver on its ambition to our audience.

Our confidence in this project increases every day. To boost the remarkable progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. Following some time of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.

His leadership and background in the PVP shooter space is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most recognizable titles in the industry, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.

Please join me in welcoming him next week. We are all eager to keep witnessing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the months to ahead.
